In 2021, photographer John Abramson ventured across all 71 miles of the Canal on behalf of the Conservancy to capture the stories and faces of those who love the old Canal. We are pleased to share some of these stories with you.

Kariem lives in Denver and uses the Canal often. He enjoys the views along the trail and the peace. Kariem has fond memories of floating down the Canal as a kid. As he walks the trail today, he often sees a fox. He tries to find it now whenever he is out walking. Kariem also enjoys the history of the trail. From it’s beginnings as an irrigation Canal to it’s renewed utility as an ecological and recreational greenway there is so much we can all appreciate about the Canal. Thank you to Kariem for sharing your story.
