We are pleased to announce we have three new team members joining the Conservancy. We have two interns who will be with us until the fall and a new Associate Director of Development. Get to know our new staff!

Alexis Geers comes to the High Line Canal with a decade of nonprofit experience, a love of the outdoors and a spirit of adventure. Born in Colorado, raised in Illinois, with a stint in St. Louis and the past 10 years in California, Alexis is eager to establish lasting roots here in the Colorado community. Having just moved from California in January, her passion for conservation continues as she joins the team as the Associate Director of Development. Her professional experience includes working with organizations such as the YMCA, Land Trusts, animal welfare and the past four years as a nonprofit consultant specializing in fundraising/development, working with an assortment of organizations across the nation.

Emma Jacobs is a Colorado transplant born and raised in Connecticut and has a lifelong love for the natural world. She attended the University of Colorado Boulder, where she received degrees in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and Film Production. Emma interned at the San Juan Preservation Trust, where she discovered her passion for conservation and building communities through nature. She is excited to be working with the High Line Canal Conservancy as the Programs & Events Intern to continue this passion. You can find Emma hiking, birding and taking photographs in Boulder in her spare time.

Marisol Gallardo Velasquez comes from a Hispanic background and is proficient in Spanish, aiding with engaging more communities in her passions. She was born and raised in the far northeast of Denver while having the Canal in her backyard. While experienced with working with children, she is passionate about making sure there will be healthy environments for future generations. Marisol is currently in college, majoring in Environmental Engineering, hoping to make the world more sustainable. She enjoys taking naps on a hammock and watching new thriller TV shows in her free time. She is excited to be working with the Conservancy as the Community Engagement Assistant and looks forward to events and meeting people on the Canal.

We hope you will help us in welcoming Alexis, Emma and Marisol!
