Prairie Garden Weeding | Green Valley Ranch

Weed Removal

Last spring we planted dozens of native prairie plants along the Canal in Green Valley Ranch. This spring we need your help to maintain the prairie garden!

Non-native plants like rye grass can outcompete our native plants, so we need your help in pulling out the rye grass to protect our native grasses and flowers. We will also spend time spreading mulch and planting some new plants in the area. No gardening experience is necessary—we will teach you how to identify our native plants and how to protect them from encroaching weeds!

Please bring your own water bottle and work or gardening gloves if you have them. We will provide water for refills, dinner, and work gloves for anyone who does not have their own. Please wear appropriate clothing including closed-toed shoes and sun protection as you will be working outside in the sun.

All volunteers must sign our online volunteering waiver once annually. Volunteers under the age of 18 must have a parent/guardian signature and children under the age of 14 must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

By registering for this program you agree to abide by the policies in our volunteer agreement.

We hope to see you there!
