Volunteer With Us!

We need Volunteer Leaders for 2026
Is your New Year’s resolution to spend more time outside? Or maybe to give back to your community? Perhaps it’s just to have more fun with new friends in 2026? Then we need you to volunteer for the Canal!

What types of volunteers do we need most?

    • Connect with community by attending events to tell others about the Canal and Conservancy. From tabling to walking tours, we’ll give you the training you need to teach friends and neighbors all about the High Line Canal.
    • Help us care for the Canal habitat! These leaders guide new volunteers to pick up trash, pull weeds, remove brush, and steward the Canal.
  • Canal Monitors
    • Walk, run, or bike your favorite segments of the Canal on your own schedule and report to us about trail conditions.
  • Office Volunteers
    • Stay cozy in our office and help us write letters, stuff envelopes, and prepare for our annual signature events.
You don’t have to decide now! Attend our Volunteer Leader Q&A Open House to hear about each of these roles and which ones might be the most fun for you.

Who should volunteer?

  • People from all backgrounds and abilities
  • People who can contribute a minimum of 20 hours a year (that’s just a few events!)
  • People who like spending time outside
  • People at least 16 years old
  • People who like making a positive impact in their community
  • People who love the Canal
  • You!

Want to learn more?

Attend our Volunteer Leader Q&A Open House to learn about the types of volunteers that we need most this year. Attending orientation does not commit you to anything, it’s just to learn! If you decide you want to volunteer you can then attend other training sessions later this February to jump into your volunteer role.
