Become a High Liner!

Walk, run, roll, or bike all 71 miles and earn a 71.0 High Liners sticker! Make your miles count for more by fundraising or donating and earn a 71-mile medallion.

How to participate:

  1. Fill out the form on this page to register. If you opt-in, we’ll send you a free Trail Map to help you on your adventure.
  2. Check your email and download the trail log to track your adventure
  3. Once you’ve completed all 27 segments, email your trail log to hello@highlinecanal.org
  4. We’ll mail your commemorative swag (note: please allow up to 10 business days for delivery)

Note: There are gaps in the Canal, please review the map closely, and reference our trail notices & detour page for up to date information on potential projects that will impact your trail travel.

The High Line Canal Conservancy is a nonprofit working to preserve, protect and enhance the 71-mile High Line Canal. When you choose to fundraise for and/or donate to the Conservancy as you complete all 71 miles you are supporting our mission and helping create connections, enhance recreation, support local economies, and improve environmental health and climate resiliency. At the Conservancy we believe access to nature is not an amenity⁠—it’s a necessity. Help us ensure this natural resource is around for generations to come. To help you out, we’ve made a tutorial on how to create a fundraising page on our behalf!

The High Liners program is great for folks of all ages. You can even bring your pets with you on most of the trail (note: pets are not allowed in Waterton Canyon). Here are ideas of how to have fun with your travels.

FAQs

Funds raised through the High Liners program support the Conservancy’s mission to preserve, protect and enhance the 71-mile High Line Canal. Specific programs and initiatives that funds may go to include:

  • Tree Plantings – new trees are being planted along the Canal corridor to replace the again cottonwoods which are coming to the end of their life span
  • Enhancing Safety – underpasses are being built and current road crossings are being improved to enhance trail user safety
  • Stormwater Infrastructure – to provide renewed life to the historic irrigation Canal, we are working to transition the Canal into green stormwater management system
  • Community Engagement – we host programs and events along the Canal such as nature walks and environmental eduction in addition to working to with communities along all 71 miles to help co-design trail enhancements that are meaningful to each neighborhood
  • Canal Stewardship – we harness the power of volunteers to steward the Canal with brush removals, trash cleanups and noxious weed removals

Nope! Becoming a High Liner is a no-cost program. We want this is be an accessible option for all. However, we encourage donations and/or fundraising to help support the Conservancy’s efforts to preserve, protect and enhance the trail. Help us ensure this resource is around for years to come. Those who fundraise or donate at least $35 will earn a 71-mile medallion.

The trail log is an interactive PDF. You can type your answers and then go to File -> Save As to ensure what you have typed stays in the form. Adobe has a nice resource here. You can always print out the log and fill it in by hand if that is easier.

Stop by Conservancy HQ (4010 E Orchard Road, Centennial, CO 80121) during business hours to pick up a free map and to purchase the guide book to help you navigate all 71-miles. We encourage you to donate an amount that is meaningful to you. We often find folks set goals of fundraising in increments of 71, such as $71 – friends and family pledge $1 for each mile completed. Gifts of every size matter – every dollar helps and we are grateful for all contributions. By fundraising or donating at least $35 you will earn the 71-mile medallion once you complete the Canal.
