Community Art Celebration (Aurora)
August 28, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm
Grand opening
Join us for a celebration of a new community art project along the Canal!
Meet us on the Canal just behind Hinkley High School in Aurora to celebrate the grand opening of an enchanting new art installation. The entire community is invited to enjoy an afternoon with shade and refreshments and get the first look at the completed artwork.
This public art project, curated and managed by BMOCA (Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art), aims to bring a moment of connection to both art and nature. Local artist Adolfo Romero worked through the summer to carve intricate designs into habitat trees, giving new life to old cottonwoods. The carvings increase the habitat value of the trees for wildlife like birds and insects while also bringing joy to trail users. Students from nearby Laredo Elementary School contributed to the project by drawing designs on small slices of cut branches that can be seen sprawling from the base of a large carved tree, inviting you to look closer. Meet Adolfo and contributing student artists at this family gathering!
