On October 19th and 20th, the High Line Canal Conservancy hosted it’s fourth and final “Adventure on the High Line Canal: Charting our Course for the Next Century” Open House Series. These events were held at the Dry Dock Brewery in Aurora, Eisenhower Recreation Center in Denver and Goodson Recreation Center in Centennial. Over 200 people participated in these events that spanned the region allowing us to receive diverse input. At these final interactive open houses, we shared strategies for implementing the community-developed vision for the Canal and asked you to contribute your ideas and priorities to help sustain the High Line Canal for for future generations.

The Conservancy staff and consultant team (pictured) were excited to see the outpouring of support for the Canal throughout the community-driven Outreach and Vision Planning Initiative. We held one of our final community events at a well-loved Aurora watering hole, Dry Dock Brewery. They even created an exclusive beer, the Dry Dock High Line Plum Saison-Brett, to show their dedication to the Canal!

We were excited to have Councilman Bob LeGare from Aurora and Councilwoman Kendra Black from Denver stop by to see our progress and visit with our Executive Director, Harriet LaMair. The nearly 100 community members who passed through our open house highlights how much of a well-loved resource the Canal is to Denver metro area.

We had an exceptionally strong showing at Goodson Recreation Center in Centennial where over 100 community members from South Metro Denver joined us to give input about the Vision and Action Plan. The crowds were bubbling with excitement for the Conservancy’s work in ensuring that the Canal remains a natural, varied and connected community asset.

After six months of talking with over 3,500 community members, we are now even more connected to the public and more confident in the future of the High Line Canal. It’s been gratifying to hear the chorus of voices, representing all 71 miles of the Canal, uniformly say that they want the Canal preserved and enhanced as a natural refuge.  If you were unable to join us for our open house events, that is OK!
