Its an exciting time in the life of the High Line Canal! On September 7th and 8th, the High Line Canal Conservancy revealed the elements of a community-inspired draft Vision. These community open house events were held at Kent Denver School in Cherry Hills Village, the Green Valley Ranch Library in northeast Denver, and Westridge Recreation Center in Highlands Ranch.

These creative and engaging community open house events drew approximately 450 residents from all across the Denver metro region in celebration of preserving, protecting and enhancing the Canal corridor for generations to come. Attendees delved into each vision theme – Natural, Connected, Varied, Manage and Enhance – giving our team direct feedback about how they fit into the overarching vision for the Canal. Our team enjoying a refreshing paleta (Mexican style popsicle) in Green Valley Ranch on a warm day. We met with over 30 residents in the Northeast region of the metro area and welcomed Councilwoman Gilmore of Denver District 11.

Close to 300 interested community members joined us at Kent Denver School to engage with our planning team about the draft Vision, which sets the priorities of the Canal as Natural, Connected and Varied.

We received input from an estimated 100 community members in Highlands Ranch at the Westridge Recreation Center. We were happy to host our 9th open house in Douglas County this round, getting to hear more from community members in the southern most reaches of the Canal.
