A section of trail in Douglas County will be closed through Spring 2020 near Roxborough Park Road

A section of High Line Canal trail in Douglas County between miles seven and seven and a half will be closed starting December 2, 2019 through May 2020. The closure, related to construction of a new residential neighborhood call Solstice, which will include one of the first stormwater transition projects along the Canal, is expected to re-open by May 22, 2020. This short-term closure will temporarily affect passage along the last mile of Segment 2: The Trail’s Beginning featured in the Conservancy’s new Guide to the High Line Canal Trail (more here).

As noted by Shea Homes, the developer responsible for Solstice, the scope of work includes utility crossings, drainage infrastructure, trail reconstruction and revegetation along the trail and within the Canal’s channel. The purpose of the full closure is to maximize safety and efficiency in constructing these improvements.

The graphics below, provided by Shea Homes, highlight the closure location and depict the proposed trail improvements that will connect to the new adjacent community.
