Enjoy the long weekend with a few strolls through Fly’n B park while taking in some of the rich history of the High Line Canal.

The High Line Canal has a vibrant and important history as a means of supplying irrigation water to a burgeoning region. All along the present day trail are traces of this incredible past. One of the best treasures along the Canal is the Fly’n B House in Highlands Ranch. The Fly’n B House, formerly known as the Matthew Plews House, was built in 1906 by Mathew Plews, a talented horticulturalist who ran a truck garden on the property. In 1937, he sold the home to O.E. “Smiling Charlie” Stephens, who ran an illegal gambling operation from the house. Through rigorous planning, Highlands Ranch Metro District has been actively rehabilitating and restoring the home and surrounding property.

Would you like to see other historic sites along the Canal restored? Tell us directly at our upcoming open houses when we’ll reveal the community-driven draft Vision Plan. One of the events is located right in Highlands Ranch at the Westridge Recreation Center!
